By now it's no secret that I adore books...all kinds...and one of my favorite gifts I've ever been given was a book. It was a Christmas gift from my parents one year (my dad had picked it out). I have always been fascinated with William Shakespeares work. I was probably one of the few people sitting in English class really into what we were reading....and when I took drama and we'd go over the plays...LOVED it (not that I'm in any way actress material...I'd rather do the watching quite frankly) it was just the environment that I loved. Anyway, the book is a complete collection of Shakespeares work. It's called "The Globe" it is wrapped in leather (ish) material, illustrated, looks old and is simply fabulous! Now I know that it's not all about material things, quite the opposite....but if anything ever happened to this book...I would be very sad! So, thanks Dad for picking out this gift for me...years and years ago!
the book looks like a beauty! you are way smarter than me... i read one page of shakespeare and then have to re-read it and re-read it to make sure i got everything. : )
ReplyDeleteHaha...thanks. Believe me, I can't just read it the first time and understand it either...I guess that was the beauty of having an English teacher available to explain it to you. I haven't read it much since then...at least not other than the ones I already "get". The way they spoke and wrote back then was just so pretty! :0)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could understand Shakespeare better. If our english teacher hadn't explained everything, I would have been totally lost. But this book does look and sound lovely. I love books that look old and have that pretty type of design.
ReplyDeleteThoughtful Dads are the best!
